Community Code of Conduct
Below is AoC Link's Community Code of Conduct. This document outlines the standards we expect all members to uphold to ensure a positive environment for everyone. Please read it carefully and follow the guidelines when interacting with other users on the platform.
- 1. Introduction
Welcome to the AoC Link Community! Our mission is to provide a safe, respectful, and engaging platform where players can connect, share experiences, and collaborate. This Community Code of Conduct outlines the standards we expect all members to uphold to ensure a positive environment for everyone.
- 2. Scope
This Code of Conduct applies to all users of the platform, including but not limited to:
- posting reviews of other players or guilds,
- interacting within the user and guild directories,
- posting or responding to job listings on the job board, and
- any other interactions on the site.
- 3. Expected Behavior
All AoC Link users are expected to:
- Be Respectful: Treat others with kindness and respect - we all play games for different reasons, with different backgrounds and experiences.
- Communicate Clearly: Use clear and appropriate language. Avoid slang, jargon, or ambiguous terms that may lead to misunderstandings.
- Be Constructive: When providing feedback, try to keep it objective and aimed at improving the community and individual experiences.
- Protect Privacy: Respect the privacy of others. Do not share personal information without explicit consent.
- Follow the Rules: Adhere to the guidelines set forth in this Code of Conduct, Acceptable Use Policy, Terms of Service, and any additional site-specific rules.
- 4. Prohibited Behavior
The following behaviors are strictly prohibited:
- Bullying and Trolling: Intentionally provoking or antagonizing others to elicit negative reactions.
- Exploitation and Scamming: Engaging in deceptive practices aimed at exploiting or defrauding other users.
- Fake or Misleading Information: Sharing false information or impersonating other users or entities.
- Harassment and Hate Speech: Any form of harassment, discrimination, or hate speech based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or any other protected characteristic.
- Inappropriate Content: Posting content that is sexually explicit, overtly violent, or otherwise unsuitable for the community. If you have to ask yourself or others if something is too much, it probably is.
- Personal Attacks: Attacking or demeaning individuals, including through reviews or comments.
- Privacy Violations: Sharing personal information of others without their consent, including real names, addresses, or other sensitive data.
- Spam and Self-Promotion: Posting unsolicited advertisements, irrelevant links, or excessive self-promotion outside of areas clearly marked for such.
- 5. Content Guidelines
When posting content on the platform:
- Reviews & Notes::
- Be honest and fair in your assessments - people deserve credit for their accomplishments, and also deserve to know where they can improve: professionals always seek to be better.
- Focus on specific behaviors or experiences rather than making generalized statements.
- Avoid defamatory language or unsubstantiated claims.
- Directory Listings (Creating New Profiles)::
- Provide accurate and up-to-date information where possible - if you don't know something, don't guess: bad info is worse than no info.
- Refrain from including offensive or irrelevant content in profiles.
- You do not need to have ownership of a player to make a profile for them, but you must own or be that player ingame on the server indicated in order to claim the profile.
- Claiming Profiles (and Disputes)::
- Anyone can create a profile for anyone else, but you must own or be that player ingame on the server indicated in order to claim the profile.
- If someone else makes a claim on a profile you own, you may dispute the claim. Note that all disputes, including any proof or information provided during dispute proceedings, is made public. If your dispute is successful, the infringing user will relinquish the claim and may be penalized if their initial claim is determined to have been made in bad faith.
- Job Contracts::
- Clearly outline the scope, requirements, and compensation for the contract work. All contracts must be for services rendered; item or entity trading must be done via the Marketplace.
- Ensure that job contracts are legitimate and not misleading. Contracts determined to be intentionally misleading or bad faith will be removed and the owner penalized.
- Reviews & Notes::
- 6. Reporting Violations
If you encounter behavior or content that violates this Code of Conduct:
- Report the Issue: Use the platform's reporting tools, the AoC Link Discord, or email staff directly report@adieuu.com to notify moderators or administrators.
- Provide Sufficient Detail: Include relevant information such as usernames, links, and descriptions of the violation. Be as detailed as possible, but stay objective - hearsay and anecdotal evidence is not sufficient for action.
- Do Not Engage:: Refrain from responding directly to the offending user to avoid escalation. Let Adieuu staff handle the situation.
- 7. Enforcement and Repercussions
Violations of this Code of Conduct, our Terms of Service, Acceptable Use Policy, or any other applicable agreements and policies (all of which you consent to by using AoC Link) may result in one or more of the following actions, depending on the severity and frequency of the offense.
- Warnings:: A formal notice reminding the user of the community guidelines. Warnings may be issued for minor infractions or as a first step before more severe actions are taken. All warnings are public and will be displayed on the user's player profiles: reputation and accountability matters.
- Content Removal:: Deleting offending posts, reviews, or listings. When content removal is neccesary, it's generally done alongside other actions (such as warnings or suspensions) to deter or prevent further violations.
- Bad Actor List:: Adding the user to a public list of known bad actors. Users on the bad actor list may be subject to additional scrutiny or penalties for future violations, and other users may see advisories when interacting with them.
- Temporary Suspension:: Restricting the user's access to certain features or the entire platform for a set period.
- Permanent Ban:: Revoking the user's access to the platform indefinitely for severe or repeated violations. Certain information may be retained indefinitely on banned users for legal or security purposes, and to prevent evasion of bans.
Appeals Process:
Users who believe they have been unfairly penalized may appeal the decision by contacting Adieuu staff with a detailed explanation and any supporting evidence. All appeals are reviewed by and at the discretion of Adieuu Staff, handled on a case-by-case basis, and may result in the reversal of penalties or further action. - 8. Community Support
We encourage a supportive community where members help each other and contribute positively. If you see someone in need or notice potential issues, reach out respectfully or notify Adieuu staff as applicable.
- 9. Amendments to the Code
This Code of Conduct may be updated periodically to address emerging issues or improve clarity. Users will be notified of significant changes, and continued use of the platform constitutes acceptance of the updated guidelines.
